The country’s demand for beef has been growing over the last four years as foreign nationals including tourists staying in the Philippines and more Filipinos with stronger purchasing power are buying the red meat to satisfy their appetite.

Many consumers buy beef in raw form from public wet markets and meat shops for home cooking and for use in their small food businesses. Others purchase it as canned meat like corned beef, served at the dining table, while still others order it as cooked menu in street eateries, restaurants, and food service establishments.

To meet the increasing demand, local suppliers as well as meat importers and traders compete fiercely on where to get quality and affordable beef stock so they have something to sell regularly to their clients. Getting into the business and surviving it through thick and thin can be a real challenge because beef prices in the world market are erratic, while supply from local production do not always come regularly due to difficulty of gathering good quality cattle from different sources and because of the country’s limited cattle population.

Those supplying to meat processors and institutional buyers like hotels and restaurant chains get their stocks overseas, importing frozen beef by the container loads and delivering it to their clients’ warehouses and cold storage facilities.

Beef traders who supply their own meat shops and sell some of their goods at the meat section of large department stores and shopping malls also get their beef stock from imports, and partly from local cattle trader and meat dealers they contractually fatten at private feedlots and later slaughter and chop into various beef cuts.

But in the more challenging business of delivering fresh beef carcass to public wet markets, supermarkets, and food service commissaries in Metro Manila where demand is strong but supply do not come regularly, very few players manage to survive and sustain their operation the way RSRH Livestock Corporation has.

RSRH Livestock Corp., set standard with our live cattle partners ranging from 420kg to 450kg. It’s a requirement with our beef suppliers to deliver us prime cattles resulting to prime beef. 

Locally sourced cattle came from all over the Philippines like Pangasinan, Ilocos Region, Batangas, Pampanga, Dumagete, General Santos City & other parts of the country.

Furthermore, we are also slaughtering  Australian steer, heifer and bull.

But what perhaps sets the family business apart is its commitment and willingness to improve its operating systems and procedures to global standards, and educate and encourage its business partners to do the same, so that together, they can provide clean and safe meat to customers at reasonable prices without resorting to animal cruelty.

Along this line, RSRH, in collaboration with major supplier Wellard, complies to strict standards that promote humane slaughtering procedures and improved animal welfare by practicing and adhering to the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System or ESCAS implemented by the Australian government.

The ESCAS process ensures that  welfare of  live animals  for slaughter are seriously taken cared of from the moment they are pulled out from the ranch or feedlot, then transported, shipped by boat up to the time they are brought to the abattoir where they are stunned and slaughtered.

RSRH is also in constant search for innovation and new ideas at product handling and packaging, instilling discipline and cleanliness at the workplace, making them a way of life to show how much it values customer interest and food safety.
